AI

Docmost includes AI-powered features that help you write, edit, and search your workspace content: Ask AI in the editor, AI Answers in search, and AI Chat for conversations about your workspace. Self-hosted instances can use OpenAI, OpenAI-compatible providers, Google Gemini, or local models through Ollama.

AI Chat Setup

AI Chat lets users have conversations about workspace content, find and summarize pages, and create or edit pages. It is available on the Business and Enterprise editions.

AI Search Setup

AI-powered search uses vector embeddings to provide semantic search across your workspace. AI Chat can also use this index to find relevant pages. This is a paid feature that requires a valid license key. To configure and enable chat, see AI Chat Setup.

API

Docmost provides a REST API that allows you to programmatically interact with your workspace. You can create, read, update, and delete pages, spaces, and other resources. For the full API reference, see the API documentation.

Bases

A base is a database inside Docmost. Instead of writing content in a document, you organize it as structured records: a set of rows, each with the same properties. The same data can be shown in more than one view, so a list of tasks can appear as a table for editing and as a Kanban board for tracking.

GitLab

Preview projects, merge requests, issues, commits, and project lists.

Jira

Preview Jira issues, including issues selected on boards or backlogs.

LDAP

Docmost supports LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) authentication, allowing users to sign in using their existing corporate directory credentials.

MCP

Docmost provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows AI assistants and tools to interact with your workspace content. Through MCP, AI clients can search, read, create, and update pages, manage spaces, and more.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a verification code in addition to your password when signing in.

OIDC

Docmost supports authentication through OpenID Connect (OIDC), allowing integration with any identity provider that supports the OIDC standard.

Page Permissions

Page permissions allow you to control who can view and edit individual pages within a space. By default, all pages in a space are accessible to every space member based on their space role. With page permissions, you can restrict specific pages so that only selected users and groups have access.

Page Templates

Templates provide reusable content for pages such as meeting notes, project plans, and onboarding checklists. They are available in the Business and Enterprise editions.

SAML

Docmost supports authentication via the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML 2.0), allowing integration with identity providers (IdPs) that support the SAML protocol.
